Betti and other professors host launch ceremony for cable corrosion monitoring system, Dec 22, 2008.
The goal of this project is the development of a state-of-the-art corrosion monitoring system to be used in main cables of suspension bridges. With its 20 in. diameter and 20 ft. length, this cable mock-up is one of the largest cable specimens ever buit in a laboratory, and is the only one ever subjected to axial tension (1,200 kips).
This project is a joint collaboration between Columbia University, Parsons Transportation Group and Physical Acoustics.
